Be a guest at the “Dorner” farm in Vorarlberg

The farm is managed by Tanja and Markus Dorner already in the fourth generation. With body, soul and appreciation. They turned a conventional farm into a “holistic” agriculture where resource conservation, regionality and appreciation for soil, people and animals count. So that campers also understand what living agriculture means, the family now offers two CAMPPA parking spaces for campers at the Dorner farm.

One thing led to another. The conversion from conventional dairy farming to organic farming with grazing cattle was the first step in the further development of the Dorner farm ten years ago. Farmer Markus Dorner, a housing finance expert in his first profession, cannot list everything that happens on their farm: With the conversion to organic farming also came the construction of the bioheating power plant, which is fired with biomass from a radius of five kilometers and meanwhile also supplies the kindergarten, the elementary school, his brother’s bakery, the alpine dairy, the hotel and a residential complex in the village with heat. Two vacation apartments already made the Dorner family hosts before they got to know the concept of CAMPPA and now also let campers park here. Parking with an experiential character: a mobile chicken coop, a few beehives and the organic grazing cattle, as well as a themed agricultural playground make this parking so interesting for families. The greenhouse, which now produces vegetables and lettuce all year round at an altitude of 1,000 meters above sea level using the production heat from the organic heating plant, the farm’s own bakery, which will soon include a café and where pasta, cookies and delicious bread are made, also make this parking lot interesting for epicureans. In summer, fruits and vegetables grow there in the open air and – since 2022 also herbs for teas and spices. With so much work, helping hands are also needed. Four of them come from Lebenshilfe. Tanja and Markus are grateful for this support.

Lovers of mindful enjoyment will enjoy the energized farm water as well as the Slow Food Market, which will be held at the Dorner farm on the first Saturday of every month starting May 1. Twelve to 20 local producers present their organic products there. A place to stay? Definitely. For short or longer stays, for families and culinary enthusiasts. For people who want to switch off and those who are interested in the busyness in such a holistic agriculture.
